Two Girls - I
The BlueRoof is a modern arts and design venue boasting an interior space with natural light levels which lend it to showcasing a wide range of art media. Nestled at the foot of Bennachie, the local landscape presents an ever-changing spectacle, creating the perfect backdrop to viewing contemporary art in a relaxed and informal setting.
Visitors to the BlueRoof will find a diverse selection of art works for sale that are neither conventional nor traditional, emphasising pieces by emerging talents from local art schools and way beyond...
The BlueRoof’s opening exhibition features the work of French newcomer Alix Godon. Alix’s extensive exhibition explores structural schemes, systems and duality. The threat of catastrophe from water, and its aftermath, is a common theme in her work. Additionally, her vibrant studies of women employ the idea of theatrical posturing with some pieces featuring a famous face from 20th Century politics.
Showcasing contemporary art Alongside Alix are works in varying mediums by Michael Dix, Stephanie Vandem, Tracey Kinnisburgh, Vicky Spiers, Louise Knaresborough, Rick Ellerman, David Elliot and Andrew Ferguson. The BlueRoof also features pieces from recent Gray’s School of Art graduates Yvette Bathgate, David Brown, Amy Lawson and Robert Hunter. The BlueRoof also has a small shop area selling art cards, artisan jewellery by designers including Heather McDermott and Mark Veevers; ceramics from Creatively Occupied and homeware by Hus.
We have lots of exciting plans for the BlueRoof, including art classes and art residencies in the B’Arty Room, a solo exhibition by Stephanie Vandem, teaching and exhibiting of art works from David Lloyd and much more of Alix and other new talent from both home and abroad.
The BlueRoof in Oyne, Aberdeenshire will open Wednesday through Sunday from 11.00am until 6.00pm with a late night until 7.00pm on a Friday. Outside of these hours you can visit by arrangement.
After contemplating art and life from under the BlueRoof, why not pop next door to Lil C’s Bar-B-Q for some smashing wings or simply a coffee, while the kids explore their artistic potential on the giant blackboard.
